The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco has an opening for an assistant in its Economic Affairs Section that will begin from December. The responsibilities of this section are broad, but include facilitating government, trade, and business relations between Japan and the United States.

JET Program Campus Visits 2009

Looking for Volunteers

Hello JET Alumini! The Consulate-General of Japan in Portland is about to launch its annual fall recruiting drive for the JET Program. Over the next few weeks we will be visiting local colleges and universities to try to gather up a fresh new crop of future JET participants. We would love your help in spreading the word about JET by offering your experiences and impressions to next year’s prospective ALTs and CIRs.

Kabuki Lecture and Performance Event

The Japan Foundation would like to announce our Kabuki Lecture and Performance event in Portland! This is a rare and exciting opportunity for Americans audiences to experience the performing arts of the royal court in Japan.

Tabemashou! October 2009

The Tabemashou! group gathers to explore, critique, and enjoy Japanese dining options in Portland. Through numbers we’re able to sample menus extensively and casually critique the food and drink, atmosphere and experience, and value and specials.

The Halloween party is attended by JETAA members and J-Kaiwa friends and members of the Japanese community. It is an opportunity to introduce a traditional American holiday to Japanese members of the community by dressing in costumes. A costume contest is held with prizes awarded for Best Japanese Themed Costume and Best Overall Costume.
