My name is Red Gillen, and I’m JETAA Portland’s new Career Development Chair. I’m looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next year. Take a moment to browse through the career areas we have on our site:
One of the Chair’s responsibilities is to develop an alumni professional network, an important foundation for all of our career development paths. As many of you may already know, LinkedIn is a great tool that allows us to build out such a network.
If you haven’t done so already, please set yourself up on LinkedIn at www.linkedin.com. Once you’ve done so, please go to the Groups section. In the Groups Directory, enter “JETAA Portland” and you will find our own professional network. We already have over 20 members, and hope to have your name added to the list. The stronger and larger our network, the greater the possibilities for everyone’s career development.

The Portland Chapter of JETAA (The JET Program Alumni Association) was created to serve the bonds of friendship developed by the program participants. JETAA’s purpose is to achieve, through its activities, a broader and deeper understanding between Japan and the other countries participating in the program.
