Marc P. Keane is a landscape architect and author of multiple books on Japanese garden design and history, including the newly-published Japanese Garden Notes: A Visual Guide to Elements and Design (Stone Bridge Press). The Portland Japanese Garden’s own Curators, Diane Durston and Sadafumi Uchiyama, jointly wrote that the book “sheds light on the intricate and often overlooked details and important nuances of the Japanese garden with the insight of an experienced designer and practitioner and the eloquence of a scholar, of which Keane is both.”
