JETAA Yearly Planning Meeting

Who:
All JETAA Members interested in getting more involved in JETAA Portland and especially those interested in officer positions open in the upcoming election.

What:
JETAA Member Meeting to discuss and plan upcoming events like our officer elections which will be held in March. We are looking to continually improve on the great events we hold in Portland and are always looking for members to get involved, which helps make JETAA Portland one of the most successful JETAA chapters in the world.

When:
Friday, February 3rd at 7:30pm

Where:
Wing Wa Barbeque King located at 2788 S.E. 82nd Ave.(the Chinese restaurant below DaDaDi Karaoke).
Nijikai will
be at DaDaDi after dinner.

JETAA Members Band "Matinee" plays.

Come check out two JET Alumni perform some rockin’ music this Friday! Steve Otis (Yamanashi-ken) and Scott Arenstein (Kagoshima-ken) both returned from the JET Programme this past summer and have since then

been crooning their way around Portland as rock outfit, Matinee.

2006 is the "Year of the Dog"!

So what better way to celebrate the new year (and year of the dog!) than sip a nice beer and brush up on your Japanese at the Lucky Lab Brewpub! This month we are back to our regular format after forgetting the old year and welcoming the new year in joint events with JETAA. Japanese speakers of all levels welcome.

Where: Lucky Lab Brewpub, 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland
Who: JET-AA members, JET Programme Returnees, Japanese friends and J-kaiwa speakers of all levels.
Why: To brush up on your Japanese, meet some new people connected with Japan, and celebrate the Dog!

Look for the J-Kaiwa sign, which I haven't had with me the past few times, but I don't want any new people to not be able to find us.

Happy Valentinesu Day!

JETAA 1st Annual Mochi “Ski” Day
Saturday, February 25th

JETAA Portland is offering its first annual Mochi “Ski” Day! This event is for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Lift tickets, rentals, and lessons are all discounted. Even if you have never skied or snowboarded before you can get a package consisting of a rental, a 90 minute coaching session, and a lift ticket good for the beginner lifts. We will meet up as a group near the ticket booths to say hi and find people of like levels that are interested in skiing or snowboarding together. We will try and gather together for a group lunch in the lodge at around 12:00. So come on out to Mt. Hood Meadows for a great time in the snow!

When: Saturday, February 25th from 8:30am – 4:00pm
Where: Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort
Cost: $38 for lift tickets (includes ski check); $22 for ski or snowboard rental (not required)
$45 beginner package (rental, lesson, limited lift ticket)
Why: A day on the mountain is a great way to spend some fun time with other JET alums!
