When: Sunday, April 9th, 2005 1pm

Where: Bob & Beth Schnyder's House - directions: 1344 SE Umatilla St / Portland, OR 97202
(Changed from Westmoreland Park, SE McLoughlin Blvd & Bybee Blvd, Portland, OR)

Who: All JETAA and Family and Friends (a great event for JETAA families)

Why: because we like to view cherry blossoms and drink "biru" and "ocha"

What to bring: Nothing, just yourself and your good humor!

We will supply drinks (non-alcoholic) and BBQ, but people need to bring their own main dish (to be grilled on BBQ or otherwise). So bring your favorite potluck dish and beverages (we will be outside, so we might have to brown bag the liquor bottles),
blankets/mats to sit on, general hanamikai/picnic attire.

Your 2005-06 JETAA Executive Officers and Chairs will be annouced at this time

In the event of Rain- the party must go on: Location to be determined.

portland taiko

wednesday, april 12th

Portland Taiko, the Asian American drum performance group, launches its 2006 season with a screening of The Spirit of Taiko on April 12, 2006 at 6:30pm at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd., Portland. “Taiko” is the Japanese word for “big drum.” Award-winning filmmaker Gayle K. Yamada will be on hand for a talkback session following the screening. Light refreshments will be served following the talkback.

Two of the artists featured in the film have ties to Portland Taiko. Kenny Endo was commissioned to create new work for the group in 2000. He trained the company and played as a guest artist. Masato Baba is currently commissioned to create a new collaborative work for PT’s spring concert, Crossing Bridges, in which both he and Endo will also perform.

Tickets available beginning March 10 through Hollywood Theatre box office, by phone at (503) 493-1128, online at www.hollywoodtheatre.org, or in person at the Hollywood Theatre office, 9am-5pm Monday-Friday or at the theatre box office, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd., 15 minutes before the first show of the day through the last show.
