Location: Bob & Beth Schynder's
Konnichiwa JETAA Portland,
2008-2009 Officer elections (coming in March) are fast approaching, so we'd like to invite anyone interested to join us for our February Chapter meeting.
We will meet first, then eat dinner/chat and end the night with a Japan related movie (movie TBD). Attending the meeting/movie night is a great chance to get to know us better, let us get to know you, learn more about JETAA and determine whether or not you would like to become more involved.
JETAA is an international association of ex-JETS that offers you multiple opportunities to network, maintain ties with Japan, build transferable work skills and have lots of FUN!
If you have any Japanese movies you'd like to bring, feel free. Other than that, you won't need to bring anything to the meeting (except for maybe a pen and any questions you may have). We'll provide meeting materials and dinner.
If you'd like to join us, please RSVP by January 31st to: vp@jetaaportland.com
Thanks and see you on the 2nd!
Amanda Gray
Dear Jet Alumni,
As the year comes to end we can look back on another turn of the seasons with happiness for all that was accomplished and expectations for all that is still to come. Portland JETAA was happy to help you drown the sorrows of last year and we’ll be here to help you ring in the new one.
There are many events coming up in the first couple of months of 2008, Mochitsuki, the Shinnenkai, JET interviews and, of course, the world famous Eugene Asian Celebration. Every year the Consulate General of Japan opens a booth at the festival to answer questions and distribute information on Japan. This year the Consulate would like to invite members of the JETAA community to participate in the Asian Celebration. We are asking for two or three volunteers for each day of the festival (to be held Sat., February 16th & Sun., February 17th) to help staff the booth and talk to people about Japan and the wonderful opportunities of the JET Program. As with most Consulate “volunteer” arrangements, a modest honorarium will be involved.
If you would like to participate in the Eugene Asian Celebration on either Saturday, February 16th or Sunday, February 17th please contact me, Matt Turner, at matthew@cgjpdx.org or call 503-221-1811 ext. 14.
Join JETAA Portland for Japan-America Society of Oregon (JASO) Celebration Night at the Portland Trailblazers vs. Seattle Sonics basketball game and help support the "Japan on the Road" Elementary School Program. $5 of every ticket purchased goes back to support the program.
A-Key-Kyo, a local J-Pop band, will be performing at the South Atrium Fan Stage starting at 6:30 PM.
JETAA Portland has reserved 15 seats on a first-come, first serve basis. RSVP by January 30 to save your spot updates@jetaaportland.com
