JETAA (The JET Program Alumni Association) was created to serve the bonds of friendship developed by the program participants. JETAA's purpose is to achieve, through its activities, a broader and deeper understanding between Japan the the countries participating on the program.

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Alumni Association of Portland, Oregon (JETAA - Portland Chapter) is established to foster community among former and current participants in the JET program.

Its mission is threefold:
(1) to provide a social/professional network and peer support for JET alumni,
(2) to serve as a resource for alumni seeking Japan-related education and employment opportunities, and
(3) to offer guidance to prospective JET applicants and newly accepted program participants through an annual orientation program and additional outreach efforts.
