Job Posting: English to Japanese Translation

The Consular Office of Japan in Portland is seeking a temporary worker to translate JET Program applications from English to Japanese.

The wage is $15 per hour and the work will not exceed 30 hrs. The main task is basic English to Japanese translation and entering data from JET Program candidates application files into a spreadsheet. We are seeking either a native Japanese speaker or someone with good Japanese ability (JLPT N2 or higher) who can do basic English to Japanese translation. The translation is not complicated writing, just simple sentences and phrases, and some medical vocabulary.

Work Schedule

Thurs. 1/26 – Part day, approx. 4 hrs. Can be in the morning or afternoon. Interview prep.

Fri. 1/27 – All day, approx. 8 hrs. with lunch break. 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Reception for interviews and data entry.

Mon. 1/30 – All day, approx. 8 hrs. with lunch break. 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. Reception for interviews and data entry.

Tues. 1/31 – Part day, 4-5 hrs. Can be in the morning or afternoon. Data entry.

Wed. 2/1 – Part day, 4-5 hrs. Can be in the morning or afternoon. Data entry.

*The last two days can also be combined into one long day if preferred.
